Frequently asked questions

Working together
Do you come to us, or is it all online?
Yes, I come to you, wherever your company is in the Netherlands or Germany. I work in a hybrid way. On site when it makes the biggest difference: getting to know your organisation and the big changes. In between, short regular online check-ins. That way we stay in touch more often, at lower cost.
My base is near Haarlem, and I'm often in the Stuttgart area, so there I can drop by even more often.
Do you also work for German companies?
Definitely. I work for German companies just as much as for Dutch ones. For example, a German company with a team in the Netherlands, one that wants to enter the Dutch market, or one that wants to modernise and scale.
In the Stuttgart area and the border region, I can be on site more often. Elsewhere in Germany, we work in a hybrid way: a few visits on site, the rest online. My focus is on the Netherlands and Germany, but I'm happy to help beyond that too.
Which languages do you work in?
Dutch, German or English, whichever you prefer. That goes for conversations, workshops and documents.
How big does our company need to be?
There's no fixed limit. As a rule of thumb, from about ten employees. Smaller, or much bigger? If my approach adds something for you, I'm happy to help.
Which industries do you work with?
The industry doesn't matter. My strength is looking at your whole company: processes, people and tools working together. My experience includes manufacturing, the installation industry, energy and water utilities, yacht building, software and online retail. Knowing an industry sometimes helps, for example with a network or proven practices. Just as valuable is what I bring in from other industries: ideas that have already proven themselves there.
Do you work alone or with a team?
I work independently. For specific topics, I have a network of other consultants, for example for (German) marketing, sustainability, the nonprofit sector, HR, import and export, or IT. If needed, I'll refer you or bring them into the project.
How it works
What happens in the first call?
The first call is free, online and takes about 30 minutes. We get to know each other and you tell me about your situation and plans. If I already have an idea or a first tip, I'll share it straight away. We also see whether it's a match, from both sides: am I the right person for your project? Whether we work together is entirely up to you.
What happens after the first call?
If it's a match, you'll get a short proposal within a few working days, usually for a quick scan at a fixed price. Like the proposal? Just say yes and we'll get started.
How long does a typical project take?
A quick scan usually takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the scope. Implementation then takes 1 to 12 months: some things are in place quickly, others need more time. We work in steps of 2 to 4 weeks.
How much of our time does it take?
During the quick scan, we spend about 2 to 4 hours together on conversations and questions. Usually, I also talk to other colleagues in your organisation, for around 45 minutes per conversation. At the end, we discuss the results in one or two sessions of up to 2 hours.
For the implementation that follows, we put together a change team from your own people, and I lead that team through the change. In a bigger company, that's a whole team. In a small company, it can also be just one person. We check in with the change team every two weeks, usually for 30 minutes to an hour. How much time the team spends beyond that depends on what we put in place.
Why an external consultant, and not an employee?
Running a company and renewing it are two full-time jobs. Give the change to an employee, and they have to keep all the balls in the air. Often the change gets stuck, or the daily work is left undone.
I bring full focus to the change, experience with change projects and a view of the whole company: people, processes and tools, not just one department. Your employees carry out large parts of the change themselves, within their own expertise. I drive it forward: I make the plan, keep up the pace and make sure the change sticks. Once the hard part is behind us, I hand over.
Trust and afterwards
Is everything confidential? Do you sign an NDA?
Yes. Everything you tell me stays confidential. What employees tell me in interviews stays anonymous. I'm happy to sign an NDA. I only share a success story if you agree, and only after you've approved the text.
What if you're not the right fit for us?
Then I'll tell you honestly, in the first conversation. Where possible, I'll refer you to someone who does fit.
Can you also help after the project?
Yes, gladly. I'm curious how things go after a project, so I usually call past clients every six months for a short check-in, free of charge. If you want more, a small subscription is an option: we check regularly whether the changes are holding and where there is more to gain. There's no need for a new quick scan, as I already know your organisation and your people.
I'm also available for interim roles, if they fit my profile.
Let's talk, over koffie or Kaffee.
The first call is free: 30 minutes online to talk through your situation. In Dutch, German or English.
